The agent runs at night

Your group wants the coding agent to work unattended: every night it updates the scripts that pull results from the LIMS, runs the tests and leaves a branch for review. The repository has a .env file with the LIMS login, the same machine holds last year's patient-linked exports, and the agent may run any command it thinks helps. In a company it's the support team's agent that tidies ticket-export scripts overnight, on a server that can also reach the customer database.

Nobody will watch those runs. If the model misreads a task, follows an instruction hidden in a file, or simply tries too hard, what can it reach? In T20-L01 · Same Model, Different Harness: See What the Program Around the AI Changes you saw one agent find and use test answers it was never given. This book shows what each harness's own safety settings actually stop, measured from outside, and how to build the layers that stop the rest. You are at Level 4 Integrator: you connect agents to systems other people depend on, so a mistake travels further than your own folder.

After this you can

  • Name the four layers that keep an unattended agent small, and say which one stops what.
  • Run a five-action safety probe against any harness set-up and check the effects from outside.
  • Run a harness in a container that sees only the project folder and can reach only the model gateway.
  • Give an agent a model key that is limited to one purpose and expires.
  • Write harness rules for unattended runs knowing exactly where they stop.
