Delegate to the cloud

LESSONLesson 7 · ~20 min

🎯Goal. Hand long or parallel tasks to Codex cloud and review the results as pull requests.

  1. 1With Codex cloud, Codex works on tasks in the background — including several in parallel — using its own cloud environment.
  2. 2Delegate from the web (chatgpt.com/codex), your IDE extension, or GitHub by tagging @codex on an issue or pull request. After connecting your GitHub account, Codex works with your repos and opens PRs from its work.
  3. 3Configure the cloud environment — the repo, setup steps, tools, and whether Codex may reach the public internet — so background runs match your project.

You'll see. A task you kicked off and walked away from, returning as a finished pull request you review and merge.

💳Cost. Cloud tasks draw on your ChatGPT plan's usage; running several in parallel uses proportionally more.

💡Takeaway. For work that doesn't need you watching, delegate to the cloud — Codex runs it in the background and comes back with a PR.
