Verdict: useful once you're generating the same kind of asset, an image, a voiceover, a short video, often enough that a reusable node flow beats retyping prompts each time. It's a credit-metered add-on to Artlist's AI Suite, not a separate cheap tool, so it only pays off if you're already generating media regularly.

+ Pros
Read pros
AI Flows is a visual canvas inside Artlist's AI Suite: you connect generator nodes (text, image, video, voice and music) into a reusable pipeline instead of running each generation as a one-off. Every node shows its credit cost before you run it, and a flow can be saved, resumed and compared against alternative model choices for the same step.
Pick it when…
You produce the same kind of short-form asset repeatedly, for example a weekly announcement clip, and want to fix the pipeline once instead of reassembling it each time.
You want to compare two models on the same step (say, two video models on the same image) without rebuilding the flow from scratch.
You're already inside Artlist for stock assets and want to add generation without a second subscription and a second license to track.
− Cons
Read cons
A flow that runs successfully doesn't mean the output is usable; still review each generated asset the way you'd review any AI output before publishing it. Credits reset monthly and don't carry over, so a light month wastes allowance and a heavy month can run out before it renews.
Pick something else when…
You need one image or voiceover, not a repeatable pipeline. Use a single generation in Artlist's Toolkit, or a lighter one-off tool, instead of building a flow.
You want an open, self-hosted node canvas for AI generation instead of a credit-metered SaaS suite.ComfyUI gives you that, at the cost of running it yourself.
The pipeline is really a data or business workflow with an AI step in it, not a media-generation chain.n8n or Dify fit that better.
Avoid if
You need a fixed monthly price you can commit to; the AI Suite is credit-metered and tiers change, so check the current plan page.
Workflow
Sketch the pipeline: input → generator nodes → output → check each node's credit cost before running it → run on a cheap or free-tier test input first → compare model options where the flow allows it → save the flow once it produces a result you'd actually use.
Cost
Read cost
Prices checked 23 September 2026 (AI Suite plans (opens in a new tab)): the AI Suite is sold in credit-based tiers, from an AI Starter plan (from around $20/month, or less billed annually) up through AI Creator, AI Professional and AI Pro Plus at higher monthly prices, each with a larger monthly credit allowance. Unused credits and unused fast-generation quota do not carry over to the next month. Because tier names, credit allowances and exact prices change and billing differs by monthly versus annual commitment, check the current plan page for the numbers that apply when you sign up.
The running cost is entirely credits: every generation, image, video, voiceover or music track, deducts from your monthly pool, so a flow with several generator nodes can use meaningfully more credits per run than a single generation.
Restrictions
Generated assets carry a Pro license for commercial use under Artlist's terms, tied to your subscription; models and their availability can change, so check input-reference, stock-asset and downstream-use terms for anything you plan to publish or resell.
First project
Documentation-based suggestion — not run here.
Build a three-node flow: a text prompt → an image generation node → a short video generation node from that image. Run it once with a placeholder brief (not a client's real brief) and check the credit cost shown before and after the run.
Done when the flow runs end to end without manual steps in between, and you know exactly how many credits one full run costs.

Alternatives and trade-offs
ComfyUI wins when you want a free, self-hosted node canvas and are willing to run your own models and hardware.
n8n wins when the pipeline is a business workflow that happens to include a generation step, not a media-focused chain.
Dify wins when you want a visual builder centred on model calls and app logic rather than stock-asset licensing.
